Volunteer Groups

  • MumbaiPrepared has an active database of volunteers from all sections of society. These are individuals with varying skills who have signed up to volunteer their time and skill when disaster strikes in the city.
  • They will be grouped according to their skills and tasked specific roles.
  • Volunteers will be regularly updated about the levels of preparedness in the city and the disaster plans for the city
  • Regular training mass exercises and orientations will be held for the volunteers so that a co-ordinated response is set in motion when and if a disaster strikes close to home.
  • At the same time smaller community based regional response units will be set up to respond to smaller community disasters quickly.
  • These volunteer groups will link in directly with the local police, fire and emergency response services and respond together in a disaster
  • Volunteers will be trained so that they have the skills to react calmly and appropriately in a disaster and take the lead if they are the first to respond to an incident.
